2014 EFL Pre-Season Wiki | Tomorrow: Surrey Park

WANTIRNA South Junior Football Club president Mark Lowe speaks to Victoria Halkias as his club prepares for the 2014 season.

Victoria Halkias: Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2013?

Mark Lowe: Yeah! We had a fair few of our junior teams make the finals which is good and runners-up in our Under 13’s. And we finally fielded Under 8’s and Under 17’s.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2014?

Eleven teams

What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?

Absolutely one of excitement! We’ve had some of our bottom-age teams training since November, they’ve committed to having a run around. We expected our older boys, our Under 17’s, to be running, but our Under 9’s of all things and Under 11’s have been training constantly and can’t wait to get back into it.

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?

That’s a tough one! You’re getting me to pick between teams here! I would suggest either our Under 17’s or Under 13’s

Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?

Under 14’s could do with a few more and a couple more Under 17’s so we can get two teams.

If any players are interested in playing for Wantirna South Junior Football Club this season, what do they have to do?
