It is with regret that after three years in the role the has EFL has accepted the resignation of General Manager-Football Operations, Matthew Bishop.

He leaves the EFL to take up a position outside of the football industry.

EFL CEO Phil Murton praised Bishop’s contribution during his time with the league.

“Matt has been a key contributor to the league in his three years with us”, Murton said.

“After spending his working life in football, first as a player then as an administrator, Matt’s decided now is the right time to try working outside of football and we wish him all the best”.

Bishop, who played with Mooroolbark as junior prior to embarking on a 150 game AFL career, thanked all those involved with the league.

“It has been a privilege to be involved with the league for the last 3 years”, Bishop said. “Thanks to all of the players, coaches, umpires, committee members, trainers and volunteers across the league who all contribute to make the Eastern Football League such a great competition”.

Bishop will finish with the EFL on Friday March 10.

The search for a new General Manager- Football Operations will commence immediately through Seek and Sportspeople.
