CARDAMONE TO LEAD COUGARS

Off the back of a finals appearance in 2015, Coldstream faced an uphill battle in 2016. After an early season struggle for players the side gathered momentum eventually finishing the season with three wins.

Ensuring they are ahead of the pack in 2017, the Cougars have already jumped at the chance to sign a Senior Coach for next season – securing the services of Basin small forward Michael Cardamone.

Cardamone comes to Coldstream with a wealth of experience under his belt, the 31-year-old has spent the last three seasons at Batterham Reserve and before that was an integral part of Forest Hill’s dream finals run in 2013.

The Cougars have shown a keen ability to develop talent with Darcy Carrigan taking home the clubs second ‘Young Gun’ award in three seasons following a stellar 2016 for the 20-year-old which saw him finish third in the James Medal count with 18 votes.

Wasting no time Cardamone has already announced the signing of live-wire forward Johnny Pignataro, who will be back at Coldstream for the first time since 2012 following time spent at Mitcham and Seville (AFL Yarra Ranges).

Cardamone will have his work cut out for him but the youthful talent that is coming through the ranks is certainly something to not only smile about but to work with into the future.
