The South Croydon Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Luke McCormick as senior club coach for season 2018 and beyond.

We are thrilled to have been able to attract such a quality individual to our club in what will prove to be an exciting period following the success of 2017. The committee feels that Luke will be the perfect fit to guide and develop the entire playing group into its next phase as the club looks to consolidate and further improve.

Luke is well-known in football circles and within the EFL. His career started in 1994 at a young age when he played for Ainslie and NSW ACT RAMS at TAC level. In 1996, Luke was drafted to North Melbourne and remained there for two years as a listed player. Following his time at North, Luke joined Port Melbourne where he remained for a further two years – during which time he was honoured with VFL state representation.

Luke returned to local football in 2000, enjoying a stellar period with East Ringwood FC. He was best and fairest in the Roos’ 2002 premiership year and remained with the club until 2008 – his last two seasons as a playing-assistant coach.

In 2009, Luke took on the top role at Monbulk FC as playing-coach and led the club deep into finals in three out of four seasons.

From 2013 to 2015, Luke was involved with the Eastern Ranges TAC team in line and senior assistance coach capacity. In addition to his line coach role at Eastern Ranges, Luke completed a coaching apprenticeship program at Essendon FC in 2014.

In 2016, Luke looked to broaden his football administration skills and was appointed to the challenging role of General Manager of AFL Yarra Ranges. Team and player mentoring however remained his passion and this year Luke returned to the Eastern Ranges as Player Welfare Manager, as well as full-time employment at Mooroolbark Secondary College where he is part of the PE team.

Luke is married to Bec and they have three daughters – Alice, Chloe and Bridie. The South Croydon FC community extends a warm welcome to Macca, Bec and the girls to our family club, and we look forward to getting to know them all a lot more as season 2018 progresses.
