The 2018 Netball EFL is nearing the end of its home and away season with just a few more rounds left before finals begin…

Taking a look at Premier/Premier Reserve, Blackburn remain in the middle of the ladder with their big 39 goal win over Norwood. Both Domingo and Matarazzo scoring 29 each for Blackburn.

Montrose caused an upset after they defeated Lilydale by three goals, leading the way for Montrose was Cullimore and Arthur and for Lilydale Murphy scored 20 of their goals. Wantirna South Devils got over the line against Boronia, 53-41, Woodgate scoring 32 of Wantirna’s goals. Fairpark remain the team to beat with their steady 10-goal win over Wantirna South Devils Reserve. Scoresby remain in top four contention with a win over Mulgrave, 45-37, Kelly scoring 36 of their 45 for the game.

 

In Division 1, Park Orchards started the round with a 20-goal win against Scoresby with Richards and Tomlins sharing the goal circle to get them over the line. An interesting result for top of the ladder South Croydon as they drew, 34 apiece with Kilsyth. Heathmont had a steady win against Coldstream, 29-24, whilst Williams scored 32 goals for Fairpark leading them to their 17-goal win against Blackburn. Teunissen and Hallam worked together to get their Knox side over the line against North Ringwood, 45-28.

Division 2 remains a close one for a spot in the top four, Norwood upset the strong Vermont side by five goals. Lilydale had a huge win against Park Orchards, 53-14, Neagle with 34 goals and McMenamin on 19 for the game. Ringwood were able to get the four points after defeating Forest Hill by five goals. Top four sides in Croydon and Ferntree Gully battled it out and, in the end, Croydon came out on top by just 2 goals. Kilsyth defeated The Basin 40-33 and Knox’s Harfield’s 25 goals lead to her side’s win against Wantirna, 46-19.

Mulgrave got the round going in Division 3 with an easy win against Norwood, 43-27, Hoskin again being the best scorer on the court. In a close battle, Rowville was able to come out on top against Knox by five goals. Waverley Blues got a good win on the board against Ringwood, 30-23, Glare scoring 22 of their goals. Boronia were able to get the win against Upper Ferntree Gully despite their best efforts at a comeback, 24-21. A low scoring game between the top two sides resulted in a one-goal win for Whitehorse against Heathmont. A huge 34 goals for Goldsmith led Scoresby to their 16-goal win against Kilsyth.

 

In Division 4, Heathmont’s steady four quarters got them over the line against Lilydale, 27-16, with Capron shooting 17 of their 27. North Ringwood’s Luiyf scored 17 goals and South Belgrave’s Cecchi scoring 15 for her side result in a 10-goal win for North Ringwood. Upper Ferntree Gully stay the team to beat in Division 4 after their win over Coldstream, 35-28. Forest Hill Zebras are nearly creeping in the top four after they defeated Wantirna South by eight goals. Anderson’s goal-shooting for Glen Waverley Hawks proved too good for Ferntree Gully with the Hawks getting the win, 28-21. Boronia was led by Kemp who outscored Nunawading herself with 21 goals in her side’s win, 29-10.

In Division 5, South Belgrave’s 10 goals to 0 first quarter set them up for a good win against Wantirna South, 32-15. The Basin had a big win against South Croydon, Walsham scored 19 of her side’s 30 goals in their 23-goal win. In a tight one for the whole game, Norwood were able to defeat Mitcham, Gray scoring 20 goals in their 26-22 win. Heathmont stay in the top four after an easy win against Ringwood, 34-16. Coldstream white too good for their buddies in Coldstream black. Both the Jakobs girls leading the way for the white team in their win, 46-19.

 

Over in Division 6, Nunawading are still going strong with their 18-goal win against Scoresby. The Basin were able to just get over the line against Ferntree Gully by two goals in a low scoring game. A big scoring effort from Hinchcliffe for the Glen Waverley Hawks with 37 goals for the game as they defeated Lilydale, 48-27. Knox caused an upset after they defeated Park Orchards, 21-18. While Mulgrave had a walk in the park getting themselves a 30-goal win against Coldstream and closing out the round was Montrose who defeated Norwood, 29-25.

 

Looking ahead, Friday night sees a couple of big clashes in terms of ladder positions and they will be worth checking out. Premier/Premier Reserve will see a top two clash between Wantirna South and Fairpark. Over in Division 2, another top two play off in Croydon and Vermont. While over in Division 6, a top placed Mulgrave will face a fourth placed Park Orchards. Looking forward to seeing the results as we near the end of the season!
