Netball Hall of Fame inductee and former Australian Vice-Captain Shelley O’Donnell will coach the EFL’s first ever Interleague Netball side in season 2017.

A prolific Centre, O’Donnell’s record both playing and coaching speaks for itself. She formed part of the World Cup winning Australian teams in 1991,1995 and 1999 the latter as Vice-Captain.

In an international career spanning 10 years O’Donnell odonnellrepresented her country on 84 occasions, further to this she was also the inaugural captain of the Melbourne Kestrels between 1997-2000.

EFL Netball Manager Ellie Ingwersen is delighted with the appointment and believes that O’Donnell’s influence on the program will be significant.

“Shelley’s experience across all levels of netball will be invaluable to the program and we see her as a huge asset to the league”

“In the first season, we wanted to ensure the program appealed to the girls who would take part, having Shelley as Coach will hopefully be a highlight to those representing the league”

The EFL will take on the Northern Football League on May 12, the day before the Senior Interleague side plays host to the Essendon District Football League.

Interleague trials will take place on March 24 with more information sent to clubs in the coming weeks.
