Croydon Junior Football Club president John Connor spoke to EFL Media ahead of the 2018 season, all thanks to Yarra Valley Water & Choose Tap.

Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2017?

John Connor: 2017 was a great season for Croydon Junior Football Club.  We had five out of seven competitive age teams make finals, with three of those teams making it to the grand final and our 13Bs premiers in a thrilling one-point win.  We also fielded our first girls team and again hosted EFL junior finals at our home ground Barngeong Reserve.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2018?

JC: We are on track to field eight sides in 2018, ranging from under-8s through to girls under-18s. We also run a “Friday Night Under Lights” Auskick program.

What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?

JC: Pre-season training has started in earnest with all teams hitting the track hard.

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?

JC: We have a few teams likely to be in the mix come finals time, with our U15’s very determined to make 2018 count.

Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?

JC: Our numbers in most teams are very strong but we have a few places for under-12s and under-8s.

If any players are interested in playing for Croydon this season, what do they have to do?

JC: Contact our registrar Karen on cjfcregister@gmail.com
