Donvale Junior Football Club president Mark Djordevic spoke to EFL Media ahead of the 2018 season, all thanks to Yarra Valley Water and Choose Tap.

Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2017?

Mark Djordevic: Absolutely, yes. We grew our girls teams from one to three (under-14s under-16s and under-18s) with our under-14s winning the premiership, our 16s coming runners up and our 18s finishing top of the table. Our boys program fielded eight teams for the first time in the club’s history with three teams making finals.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2018?

MD: Five girls teams and eight boys teams.

What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?

MD: Very positive and very busy. The place is full of kids and seniors, both men and women’s teams nearly every night of the week. It’s very exciting but we need more ovals developed at Donvale Reserve as well as more parking.

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?

MD: Our under-18 girls are looking very strong as well as our under-15 boys and under-12 boys who have tasted finals footy last year.

Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?

MD: We still need some more under-12 and under-14 girls as well as under-13 and under-14 boys.

If any players are interested in playing for your club this season, what do they have to do?

MD: Please contact Mark Djordevic on 0406159949 for boys and Warren Thomas on 0419645186 for girls.
