A statement from the Eastern Lions…
The Eastern Lions Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Leigh ‘Spud’ Murphy as the senior coach for season 2014.
Leigh joins us with a wealth of football experience and knowledge, as well as bringing with him the motivation to develop and implement fresh and exciting ideas to benefit the club both now and into the future.
Leigh began his playing career in 1994 as a junior at Our Lady of Lourdes Junior Football Club. He then joined the Bayswater Football Club where he transitioned from junior to senior football.
Leigh is well known around ‘The Den’ after a stint as the club’s senior player/assistant coach in 2011 and 2012. It was during this time where Leigh displayed incredible leadership skills both on and off the field as well as displaying a vast knowledge of the game.
Leigh is excited about the challenges that lie ahead and the club is confident that he is the right person to guide the club over the coming years. Congratulations Leigh!
The club would like to thank Rob Kreskas for his efforts as senior coach in season 2013 and we wish him well with his future endeavours.
