At 33, Mitchell is supposed to be slowing down, but instead his 2015 campaign might have been his finest yet. He led the AFL in total (748) and average (31.2) possessions and the Hawks in clearances (134) and was in the top five for inside 50s and rebound 50s, culminating in a third-place finish in the Brownlow Medal.
Mitchell was dominant in three of the four finals and very good in the other. Mitchell is ultra-professional with his preparation, but his razor-sharp football nous and dual-sided skills make him hard to quell, be it in the midfield or across half-back where he loves to organise and distribute.
There will be a time when Mitchell’s output declines, but there are no indications it will be anytime soon.
