Vermont have already begun paving their way to 2017 following their 12-point Grand Final loss on Saturday, the club announced after the loss that Senior Coach Steve Cochrane would not be continuing on as Senior Coach and have today announced his replacement.

From Vermont FC President Michael Rennie:

Following Steve Cochrane’s advice to the Committee prior to the 2016 EFL Final Series that he had decided not to continue as Senior Coach in 2017, the Club is very pleased to announce its decision to appoint Harmit Singh as the Vermont Senior Coach for Seasons 2017 and 2018.

Harmit, comes to us with an outstanding reputation for his meticulous match day planning over the past two years as the Senior Coach of Northcote Park and was awarded the Northern Football League’s 2016 Coach of the year. Prior to that he was the dual Premiership playing Coach of Morwell FNC.

He is particularly interested in Junior Development having coached at numerous junior clubs as well as many representative and elite junior squads.

He currently is employed at the Collingwood Football Club as their Community Engagement Manager and is an Assistant Coach of the new Collingwood Women’s AFL team as well as Coach of the Collingwood F.C. Next Generation Academy.

Harmit Singh
Harmit and his wife Samantha are expecting their first child in April and intend moving into the Vermont area as soon as possible where they will be very much welcomed.

Whilst we are very excited to have Harmit involved, the Club extends a huge thankyou and our appreciation to Steve Cochrane for three excellent and harmonious years with the Senior team. In that time finishing in the top three each year and at the same time developing a host of youngsters for the future. Steve could not have worked harder and he has represented the Club with great dignity and style. We also re- member fondly that he has contributed to the Club on the field in the past, being a three times Vermont Premiership player. We know he will still be about the place in some capacity, it is in his blood.
