North Ringwood Premiership Coach and Balwyn Premiership Captain Brett Moyle will continue as Eastern Football League Senior Representative Coach for 2017.

The league will take on the Essendon District Football League as part of the AFL Victoria Community Championships in May. Following the leagues loss to Geelong FL in 2016, the match between the two best Metropolitan competitions will see the winner advance to the 1v2 clash in 2018.

Moyle, who coached the league for the first-time last season said he enjoyed the role and feels he has learn’t several lessons from the 2016 campaign.

“I’m glad to be asked to lead the side again, unlike coaching at local level it’s a 12 month wait to get to compete again and after the loss last year it’s important to win”

“Based on last season, we will aim to train a couple more times together as a group, which also allows for a larger initial squad to be selected.”

The Eastern Football League will host representative football for the first time in almost a decade with Division 1 Grand Final venue Bayswater Oval the to host the May 13 encounter.

“Playing at Bayswater will be great for our league, not only the chance for supporters to attend but it’s a second home ground for several Division 1 players.”

Once again in season 2017 the league will play off in both Seniors and Under 19’s competitions giving our brightest young stars the chance to compete at representative level.

Having played representative football for the league during his playing days Moyle is hopeful to instill a pride in the Red, White and Black that will see the best players competing for the league.

“I am excited to be involved, ultimately pumped about the chance to get a positive result and get back into the 1v2 game and have the chance to prove we are the best in the state”

“We know there is a lot of talent at the top end of the EDFL, no doubt we are going to come up against quality opposition.”

The EFL is set to announce an initial squad following the early rounds of the 2017 season.
