2014 EFL Pre-Season Wiki | Tomorrow: Upper Ferntree Gully

SOUTH Croydon Junior Football Club President Shane Kenealy speaks with Victoria Halkias as his club prepares for the 2014 season.

Victoria Halkias: Overall, were you satisfied with what the club achieved, both on and off the field, in 2013?

Shane Kenealy: Yes, very happy.

Approximately how many teams do you think you will field in 2014?

Seven teams. Every age group except Under 14’s.

What has the feeling been like around the club over the pre-season?

It’s been good. We’ve got a lot of new players from various clubs. We had a really good registration day with big numbers. For once at the start of the year we’ve got two or more teams for every age group.

If you had to pick one, which team do you think is the club’s best chance of winning a premiership this season?

I’ll say, because our Under 15’s last year were in the Grand Final, that it will be the Under 17’s this year. I’ll put the pressure on them.

Is there a particular age group of players that you need as soon as possible to fill a team ahead of Round 1?

Yes! Under 14’s because we don’t have a team. So if we could get 20 Under 14’s we’d be happy. All the other sides are pretty good for numbers.

If any players are interested in playing for South Croydon Junior Football Club this season, what do they have to do?

Jump onto our website and all the contact details are there. Or they can download the registration form and do the electronic banking and send it off to us – then we’ll get in touch. Or they can call me [Shane Kenealy] of course on 0404 073 460.
