Wantirna South goal-scorers Woodgate and Halstead continued their completely dominant starts to the 2019 Premier Division season, scoring 41 goals and 26 goals respectively to comprehensively defeat the Boronia Hawks. The prolific Devils shooters blew the Hawks out of the water early, establishing a 28-goal lead by half time before cruising home to a 30-67 victory.

Meanwhile, Heathmont found a new avenue to victory, this time on the back of an outstanding 27-goal outing for R. Goulding. Abbruzzese chipped in with seven goals as the Jets held off a furious South Croydon comeback to run out 31-34 victors.

Lilydale survived a scare from Blackburn Red to continue their winning ways. The Falcons led by four goals at half-time before a 13-9 third term saw the Red tie the game heading into the fourth. However, Lilydale’s three-pronged attack of Luiyf (19 goals), Murphy (15 goals) and Smith (nine goals) proved the difference as the Falcons piled on 14 goals in the final term to secure a 43-36 victory.

Kilsyth have improved to 2-1 with a four-goal victory over Ferntree Gully. With scores tied at 11 after one quarter, the Cougars turned on the jets to open up a four-goal half time lead which they never surrendered, closing out a 35-31 victory thanks to 22 goals from A. Lennie and 13 from I. Gill.

Elsewhere, Knox pulled off a great escape to snatch a two-goal victory from the Scoresby Swoopers. Trailing at every break, Knox scored 10 fourth quarter goals, while holding their opponents to just four to overcome a four-goal three-quarter time deficit. Teunissen’s 23 goals were crucial as her side ran out 32-30 victors.

North Ringwood Black secured a tight win, overcoming Park Orchards White. North Ringwood held a narrow lead at every interval, as K. Whitechurch’s 27 goals carried her side to a 32-35 victory.

Meanwhile, Coldstream Grey made light work of Montrose. 16 goals to S. Werner and 14 to T. Collette ensured a 35-21 victory to bounce back from last week’s disappointing loss.

Round 3 saw two draws in Division 2, the first of which saw The Basin Red sensationally overcome an eight-goal half time deficit to steal a share of the points. Trailing 19-24 at the final break, Beardsworth (16 goals) and Simpson (10 goals) willed The Basin back into the contest, scoring 10 fourth-quarter goals to North Ringwood’s five as the game ended 29-29.

Mitcham Yellow will be pleased with another dominant performance as they made light work of Kilsyth Cougars Black. Mitcham opened up an 18-goal half-time lead, and cruised home to a 42-25 victory.

Scoresby also found themselves again on the winners list, taking care of business against Boronia Brown. Kelly’s 20 goals, and Hastings’ 15 ensured the Soarers pulled away from Boronia after scores were tied at 15 apiece at half time. Scoresby coasted home 35-23 victors.

Meanwhile, it was Walsham (33 goals) and Dalton (19 goals) who did the damage for The Basin as they ran out 40-goal winners over South Croydon Purple.

Coldstream Blue’s L. Carroll had a day out as she scored 32 goals in her side’s 39-18 rout of Wantirna South Green. A 12 goal to two first quarter had this game done and dusted by quarter-time.

Meanwhile South Croydon Blue and Mitcham Black played out a low-scoring arm wrestle. With Mitcham Black keeping touch,  trailing 3-4 at half-time, the game opened then opened up for the Blue. South Croydon piled on five fourth-quarter goals to nil to take home a 14-7 victory.

Nunawading continued their strong start to 2019, holding off Glen Waverley White to take home a 33-28 victory, while South Belgrave Black led at every change to record a seven-goal victory over Heathmont Yellow.
